The development of my textual designs and models was created by analyzing the weights of the Yemenite Jewish tradition in its various expressions: the rhythm of prayer, music, poetry, dance, embroidery, the Yemenite organ work and the form of clothing that were discovered as a unique design language.
The project started as an experimental idea but quickly turned into a practical research and development effort, weaving specially colored threads as a silkscreen for printing on other fabrics through sublimation
Yemeni architecture decorated with a striped pattern similar to the traditional embroidery
There is a wide range of striped fabrics in the traditional Yemeni dress which differ in texture and color some are solid color and others are spotted or striped. Stripes appear in different variations: thick or thin, equal or different in width in one color or in various colors.
Temple pendant, one of a pair. Common in Yemen in variety of qualities and techniques
The waves of the sea marks the sand in trails / the waves leave their mark on the sand
The ktuba of the Yemenis bride is divided into two parts: the opening which is written in Hebrew and square letters the way poetry is written in the Torah like a tile in a brick wall, and the body of the Ktuba which is written in Aramaic and in eastern writing..
The Yemenite traditional wedding is accompanied by songs and dances in honor of the bride and groom
From my point of view the essence of it all is a specific and unique rhythm, as designer I kept that rhythm in my weaving plans.
